About Play Therapy & the Therapist

At Wise Heart Therapy LLC, we believe in the transformative power of play. I am a licensed therapist certified in Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT).  CCPT is a non-directive therapy centering on the strong therapeutic relationship between child and therapist.   The therapist uses proven techniques to raise children's self-awareness, regulate their nervous systems, increase independence, and minimize problematic behavioral expressions.  Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT) strategies and concepts are also used to heal root causes of behaviors so the child can independently do so on their own.

 

My goal is to provide a safe and nurturing environment where clients can explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop the skills they need to thrive.  I work closely with parents to build their understanding of their child and respond in a manner that meets behavioral goals while strengthening relationships. I am committed to helping each child reach their full potential and live a happy, healthy life.

 Therapist Bio

Alison has a Master's Degree in Counseling and Personnel Development from the University of College Park, MD.  She has worked with children and families for over 25 years, many of these as an elementary school counselor.  Alison has provided therapy in a variety of settings including homes, schools and agencies.  She is a certified Child Centered Play Therapist and uses Synergetic Play Therapy techniques.
